SmartGAS PAS-Photoacoustic sensor

View Datasheets

PAS photoacoustic sensors are highly sensitive independent of optical pathlength, and provide a linear concentration response over a wide dynamic range spanning several orders of magnitude. They are also selective.

Measuring principle:

Target gas molecules are irradiated with IR energy of frequency corresponding to their specific resonant frequency, absorption is proportional to the concentration of gas present. Modulated IR photo energy causes temperature and pressure variation and generates an acoustic wave at the same frequency. This is converted to an electrical signal using a microphone.

Features:

  • Low detection limits
  • High resolution
  • High precision
  • Linear over a wide dynamic range
  • Low drift + optional automatic calibration
  • No sample pre-treatment
  • Low maintenance

Benefits:

  • Measurement Assurance
  • Versatility
  • Continuous operation 24/7
  • Low cost of ownership
  • High ROI

Product details:

For the basic configuration, the module requires the addition of a power supply, a directly connected fan to enable cooling, a gas pump and 2/3-way valve for switching between Zero and Sample gas.

The sensor module is “stand-alone” in that it has full functionality and can control all the components and  processes, however it is also possible to connect to a PLC should an externally triggered event be required.

Standard data communication is TTL-UART but an optional 4-20mA/0-10V output module is available.

On request the photoacousic sensors can be offered as a complete analytical instrument .
