Non Destructive Near Surface Moisture Measurement for Special Materials
The Schaller Humimeter M05 Universal Material Moisture Meter is a compact handheld instrument for checking the moisture or water content of suitable special materials. Its 5 mm measuring depth focuses the reading close to the surface, while the flat contact method provides a result within seconds without sample preparation or visible damage.
Why It Matters
Near-surface moisture can influence finishing, bonding, storage and process consistency. A rapid check helps users compare locations, batches or production stages without cutting a specimen or waiting for a laboratory result. The shallow measurement zone is particularly useful when the condition of the material close to its face is the main concern.
The M05 has a stated measuring range of 0 to 100%, depending on the product type, with 0.1% resolution. Accurate use depends on selecting or creating a characteristic curve for the material being tested, because electrical moisture behaviour varies between products. New materials can be calibrated, allowing the instrument to be configured for a defined application rather than relying on a generic reading that may not represent water content.
Automatic temperature compensation supports measurements across the specified operating range of 0 to 40 C. The hold function keeps a reading visible for review, and the data logger stores up to 10,000 values with measuring-point information. At 147 x 75 x 30 mm and 265 g including batteries, the M05 is easy to carry between inspection points. It operates from four AA alkaline batteries and is supplied with rubber protection and batteries.
The Schaller Humimeter M05 provides fast, non-destructive moisture checks at a 5 mm depth when a verified characteristic curve is available for the target material.
