Non-Contact Surface Temperature Measurement with a Wide Horizontal Field of View
The Aranet Apogee Horizontal FOV IR Radiometer SI-1H1 is a non-contact infrared radiometer that measures plant canopy or surface temperature, offering a practical, real-time indicator of crop response and water stress. Unlike standard circular field-of-view radiometers, the SI-1H1 has a distinctive rectangular field of view, 32° horizontally and 13° vertically, allowing it to be mounted at shallower angles while maximising the area measured without capturing background interference.
Why It Matters
Plant surface temperature is a valuable early indicator of water stress, often changing before visible signs of stress appear in the crop. However, getting a representative reading across a wide canopy area can be difficult with a standard radiometer, particularly in facility layouts where mounting options are limited. The SI-1H1’s wide horizontal field of view makes it easier to capture meaningful, far-field temperature data without needing to mount the sensor directly overhead.
The kit includes the Aranet Apogee Transmitter, the Apogee Angle Infrared Radiometer Mounting Bracket (AM-250), and the Apogee Horizontal Field-of-View Infrared Radiometer Sensor (SI-1H1). As with other Aranet Pro series sensors, it integrates with the Aranet base station and Aranet Cloud for wireless data transmission and remote monitoring.
