Passive PoE Power Delivery for the Aranet PRO Base Station

The Aranet PoE Injector for Aranet PRO Base Station is a passive Power over Ethernet injector designed to power the Aranet PRO base station via its Ethernet port, delivering 12 V DC at 0.5 A over the network cable. It allows the base station to receive both power and data through a single Ethernet cable, removing the need for a separate power supply at the installation point.

Why It Matters

Finding a suitable mains power socket at the ideal location for a base station is not always straightforward, particularly in older buildings, large facilities, or environments where cable routes are fixed and running additional power cabling is costly. A PoE injector solves this problem simply and cost-effectively, enabling the base station to be mounted in the position that best serves the sensor network, rather than the position dictated by the nearest power outlet.

The passive PoE injector connects between the local network switch or router and the Aranet PRO base station, injecting 12 V DC power onto the Ethernet cable using pins 4–5 (VDC+) and 7–8 (VDC-). It is compatible with the Aranet PRO base station only, and should not be used with the Aranet PRO Plus, which requires the active IEEE 802.3af PoE injector. For damp or outdoor installations, the PoE Injector Waterproof Case is recommended.
