Protecting Materials, Assets and Processes Through Continuous Monitoring
Moisture is one of the most common yet underestimated causes of material damage, product deterioration, mould growth and process inefficiency across a wide range of industries. Whether monitoring timber structures, bulk materials, warehouses, construction components or production environments, maintaining stable environmental conditions is essential for quality, safety and reliable performance.
Traditional inspection methods often rely on periodic spot checks that only provide a snapshot of conditions at a particular moment. Between inspections, moisture levels can change significantly, potentially leading to material degradation, product losses, costly remedial work or delays to critical projects.
The Huminode IoT monitoring system has been developed to eliminate this uncertainty by providing continuous, automated monitoring of humidity, moisture content and temperature. Using LoRaWAN wireless communication technology, the system delivers reliable real time data transmission, trend analysis and alarm functionality through a secure online dashboard.
Designed for continuous operation with minimal maintenance requirements, Huminode enables users to monitor environmental and material conditions remotely and respond quickly before moisture related problems develop into costly issues.
What is the Huminode IoT Monitoring System?
Huminode is a complete online monitoring platform designed for the continuous measurement and documentation of humidity, water content and temperature in materials, buildings and industrial environments.
The system combines wireless IoT sensors, LoRaWAN communication, dedicated gateways and a secure cloud based dashboard to create a scalable monitoring solution capable of operating continuously for many years. The result is complete visibility of changing environmental conditions.
The flexibility of the platform makes it suitable for a broad range of applications. These include building and construction monitoring, timber structures, warehouses, production facilities, historical and listed buildings, biomass fuel storage, bulk material storage and environmental monitoring. By delivering continuous measurement and automatic data logging, the system helps users maintain product quality, verify process conditions and simplify documentation and reporting.

Huminode IoT LW – Continuous Material Moisture Monitoring
The Huminode IoT LW has been developed specifically for the continuous monitoring of material moisture content. It measures both moisture content and temperature in materials such as timber, building components, pellets, wood chips and other bulk materials where moisture levels can directly affect quality, safety or performance.
The device is installed directly onto the material via screw connections, ensuring the measuring plate remains in direct contact with the surface. This enables reliable measurement and documentation over extended periods. For applications involving loose or bulk materials such as wood chips, pellets or soil, an optional insertion electrode is available to enable accurate monitoring within the material itself.
Real time wireless communication ensures that all measurement data is automatically transferred to the dashboard, where it can be analysed, stored and reviewed at any time.
Huminode IoT RH – Precision Humidity and Temperature Monitoring
The Huminode IoT RH is designed for the precise monitoring of ambient humidity and temperature. It is particularly suited to warehouses, manufacturing facilities, commercial buildings, construction projects and other environments where maintaining stable environmental conditions is essential.
The sensor continuously records humidity and temperature data and transmits the information securely to the dashboard. With a battery life of up to 15 years, the device provides dependable long term monitoring with very little maintenance.
To accommodate different installation requirements, the IoT RH is available with several sensor and probe configurations. Users can select an integrated sensor, a remote sensor connected via a two metre cable, a fixed 30 cm humidity and temperature probe or a custom length 20-200cm humidity probe for point measurement. This flexibility makes the system suitable for both general environmental monitoring and more specialised measurement applications.

Why LoRaWAN?
A major advantage of the Huminode platform is its use of LoRaWAN communication technology.
LoRaWAN has been specifically developed for Internet of Things applications and provides reliable, secure and energy efficient wireless communication over long distances. Unlike conventional wireless technologies, LoRaWAN combines low power consumption with excellent transmission range, allowing battery powered devices to operate for many years while maintaining dependable connectivity.
This makes the technology particularly suitable for warehouses, industrial facilities, construction sites, historical buildings and remote monitoring locations where installing communication cables would be impractical or expensive.
With transmission distances of up to 10 kilometres under suitable conditions, reliable indoor performance and encrypted data communication, LoRaWAN provides the ideal foundation for continuous monitoring applications.
Gateway Options for Reliable Data Transmission
The gateway forms the communication hub of the Huminode system, collecting measurement data from the sensors and transmitting it securely to the cloud dashboard.
Several gateway options are available to suit different installation requirements. The Outdoor Gateway is designed for demanding external environments and supports LTE communication, making it ideal for construction sites, industrial facilities and remote monitoring applications. The Indoor Gateway provides flexible connectivity through LTE, Wi-Fi and Ethernet, making it suitable for warehouses, manufacturing facilities and commercial buildings.
For temporary installations or portable monitoring applications, the Mobile Gateway provides a flexible solution with WLAN integration and power supplied via USB-C or a standard mains connection. Regardless of the gateway selected, the objective remains the same: reliable collection, processing and transmission of measurement data to ensure continuous visibility of environmental conditions.

Powerful Dashboard Functionality
The Huminode dashboard serves as the central control and analysis platform for the entire monitoring system. Through a secure web based interface, users can access their measurement data from anywhere at any time.
The dashboard provides:
- Real time visualisation of humidity, temperature and moisture data
- Trend analysis and historical data review
- Device organisation using folders, tags and filters
- Configurable measurement intervals
- Display of current, minimum, maximum and average values
- Automatic alarm notifications when limits are exceeded
- Automated reporting and documentation
- Centralised management of multiple monitoring locations
By consolidating all measurement data into a single platform, the dashboard simplifies analysis, reporting and documentation while providing complete transparency of environmental and material conditions.
The Benefits of Continuous Monitoring
One of the greatest advantages of the Huminode system is its ability to identify developing problems before damage occurs. By continuously monitoring moisture content, humidity and temperature, users gain early warning of conditions that could lead to mould growth, material deformation, moisture ingress, structural deterioration, product quality issues or increased energy consumption.
Custom alarm thresholds ensure that users are automatically notified whenever conditions move outside acceptable limits, enabling rapid intervention before minor issues become significant problems.
The system also removes the need for frequent manual inspections and routine spot checks. Automated data collection provides a far more complete picture of changing conditions while reducing labour requirements and improving operational efficiency.
Comprehensive data storage and reporting capabilities further support quality control, process verification, compliance requirements and project documentation. Historical records can be reviewed at any time, providing valuable evidence of environmental conditions and helping organisations demonstrate compliance with internal procedures or customer requirements.
Combined with long battery life, wireless installation and minimal maintenance requirements, Huminode offers a highly cost effective approach to continuous environmental and material monitoring.
A Smarter Approach to Environmental Monitoring
As industries place increasing emphasis on quality, sustainability, asset protection and operational efficiency, access to reliable environmental data has become more important than ever.
The Huminode IoT monitoring system combines intelligent sensors, long range LoRaWAN communication, flexible gateway options and powerful cloud based analytics to deliver a complete solution for humidity, moisture and temperature monitoring.
Whether protecting timber structures, monitoring construction materials, safeguarding stored products, preserving historical buildings or supporting quality control processes, Huminode provides the continuous visibility needed to reduce risk, improve decision making and protect valuable assets.
