Air velocity transmitters and probes
An air velocity transmitter and probe are precision instruments used to measure and monitor airflow speed in HVAC systems, cleanrooms, laboratories, and industrial ventilation applications. The air velocity probe contains the sensing element, designed to accurately detect air movement within ducts or open spaces, while the air velocity transmitter processes this measurement and converts it into a calibrated, standard output signal such as 4–20 mA, 0–10 V, or digital communication protocols. Together, they provide reliable, real-time airflow data that supports efficient ventilation control, energy optimisation, and compliance with indoor air quality standards.
When configured as a gas velocity transmitter or probe, the same measurement principles are applied to monitor the flow speed of gases such as compressed air, nitrogen, or exhaust gases. These instruments are commonly used in industrial processes, emissions monitoring, burner systems, and gas distribution lines, where accurate gas velocity measurement supports safe operation, process efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
