The SLW Moisture meter is designed for the measurement of moisture in fabrics, textiles, yarns, wool, cotton and synthetic fibres such as viscose and nylon and can be used for measurements in the manufacturing process in addition to the final product.
The moisture content of fabrics and yarns significantly affects their physical properties e.g. tear resistance and elasticity. The SLW moisture meter provides immediate information on the moisture content enabling tighter process control to guarantee quality product.
In addition to in-process measurement, the device is frequently used as a final quality control check before packaging to ensure garments and textiles won’t develop mold or odours due to high humidity levels, e.g. in laundries.
The current moisture content of the selected material shown on the display is derived from the one of multiple characteristic curves stored in the device.
Required accessories: hand electrode holder, external electrodes and sensor cable
Advantages
- Rapid measurement
- Simple to use
- Compact and ergonomic
- cost-effective
- High long-term stability and repeatability
Usage
Upon power up, the appropriate calibration curve is selected dependent on the material to be measured. The measuring probes are inserted into the material or the surface electrode is pressed onto the fabric requiring measurement. Absolute moisture content is displayed, and the average moisture content is determined simply by taking a number of measurements in different areas of the material.
The measurement principle is conductivity, electrical conductivity of a material is directly related to its moisture content. The measuring method uses a high-frequency measuring signal that is precisely tailored to the measurement of fabrics, yarns and textile fibers. Measurement is fast, precise and stable over the long term.
Optimise your drying costs and service times by timely identification of any moisture fluctuations or moisture spots.
Measurements can be saved within the device and additional information, for example, batch number, can be added prior to transfer to a PC via the optional USB interface. Data can be processed, saved, exported or printed using the LogMemorizer® PC software.
