Portable Moisture Testing for Salt Granules Powders and Sludge Pellets
The Schaller Humimeter FS4.2 Material Moisture Meter is a portable analyser for selected salts, granules, powders and sewage-sludge granules. It determines water content within seconds after the correct sample quantity is placed in the measuring chamber, avoiding grinding and lengthy routine oven testing for supported materials.
Why It Matters
Small changes in moisture can alter the handling, storage and processing behaviour of bulk materials. Road salt may cake or become harder to spread, while excess water in granules can affect stability, transport weight and downstream control. Fast on-site measurement helps production, quality and logistics teams identify variation before material moves to the next stage.
The FS4.2 includes characteristic curves for sewage-sludge granules, road salt, sea salt and table salt. Its stated ranges are 0 to 1% water content for salt, 1 to 4% for sea salt and 0 to 55% water content for sewage-sludge granules, corresponding to 45 to 100% dry solids. Other granules and powders require a product-specific characteristic curve created for the material. Resolution is 0.01% for salt and 0.1% for granulates.
Temperature compensation is automatic, while bulk density is compensated by preparing the specified sample mass with the supplied scale and measuring cup. The display shows water content and temperature, and the high-frequency method evaluates the filled sample rather than only its surface. Readings can be held or stored in a 10,000-value data logger. The USB interface and LogMemorizer software support PC transfer, archiving, export and reporting.
