The MOP301 provides the moisture content of the oil as an absolute or relative value.
The relative value, water activity (aw) provides information about how saturated the oil is with water at a certain temperature similar to how a relative humidity sensor indicates the state of air saturation. aw values range between 0-1, at 1, free water forms which is damaging to both the equipment and the oil.
The absolute water content is expressed in ppm, representing mg water / kg oil. This value is calculated from the measured water activity (aw) and temperature and oil-specific solubility parameters.

The E+E humidity sensor elements used in the MOP301 feature long-term stability and resistance to contamination. They provide the basis for the high measurement accuracy and reliability.
The MOP301 probe is IP66 rated; the sensor elements are housed in stainless steel, the M12x1 plug connection is moulded and the cable is oil resistant. It operates in a temperature range from -40 to 120 °C and up to 20 bar pressure.
Different probe and cable lengths are available for the MOP301 moisture in oil probe and the immersion depth can be set precisely with the ISO or NPT slide fitting. An optional ball valve is available to enable the sensor to be installed and removed without interruption to the process.
